ニューズウィーク

自分が歳をとるにつれて意地悪なおっさんになりつつあるためか、どの雑誌のオフィスにいる人もみんな若くて親切のように思える。ニューズウィークもそうだった。でもこの編集者とおぼしき女性はちょっと違っていた。いきなり背後から現れてなにかを言った。よくわからなかったので自分の作品を見せようとすると、どこに住んでいるかと聞く。聞きながらもムーンウォークさながら滑るようにフロアの奥、彼女の小部屋に消えて行った。きっとすばらしい名物編集者なんだろうと思う。とすると、若い男性が女性編集者に電話番号を聞いているのを見た。彼は酔っぱらって電話するよーと言い、ザスミスの”パニック”の一節（”あのDJを縛り首にしろ！）”を繰り返し歌って去って行った。いい人たちです。

newsweek

Everything went smooth except this passer-by lady, whom I guess one of editors. She appered behind my back and cast some spells and faded away. I offered her my book. She didn't answer, insted , she asked me if I live in New York. That was the end of our interaction. She disappered into her cubicle. With her long black hair and bitter expression, I supposed she must live in their office for fourty years and knew what she's doing. Professional. Although, I met nice and young editors, this is my impression on Newsweek. Not that she was not nice, it was just mysterious.

フェニックス、アリゾナ州

フェニックスはとても暑く、乾燥したところだった。人が住めるように砂漠に水をやり、冷房を効かせるのは資源の無駄遣いだと思いつつも、泊まったスパリゾートではプールで水を浴び、冷房の効いた部屋で寝た。甘えてます。

A job in Phoenix, AZ

It was so hot and dry that I though it is wasting of resources to live in Arizona. It takes a lot of water and electricity to hydrate and cool down the desert city. That said, I stayed in a spa resort hotel and enjoyed the pool and AC. I indulged myself.

プエルトリコ

プエルトリコにて仕事。結局二回しか海にいけなかったけど、夕日のオレンジと空の青、緑色に透き通った水をちょっと見るだけで満足だった。海水がしょっぱかったのが印象的。ピニャコラーダが甘くておいしかった。最高。

Puerto Rico

I just came back from Puerto Rico! Although only twice did I have time to jump into the ocean, I enjoyed it. The color of the ocean is clear green. The sky burns in orange/blue hue at dusk. Oh, the water was very salty and Piña colada, sweet. I love Puerto Rico. I am lucky to go there for a job.
